De Vries was one of the other astronauts on the Blue Origin flight with William Shatner last month. He was Vice Chairman at Dassault Systemes, a software company. He died in a small plane crash in a wooded area of New Jersey, about 40 miles from New York City. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
