The Great Steamboat Race was held yesterday - and as I noted earlier in the week it may be the last because of an issue with the House Maritime Safety Committee with regard to the Delta Queen. The Belle of Louisville won the race but had to forfeit the trophy, known as the Golden Antlers, because it turned around too soon. To be honest, the race is really more for fun than anything else - in a fair fight the Queen would win every time because it has more powerful engines. So every year there are some shenanigans that take place on the part of one boat or the other. Last year the Queen won but had to forfeit the trophy because of a technicality (something to do with handicapping). Today is the Pegasus Parade, with a 50% chance of rain. It's almost sure to be raining on Saturday when the Derby is run, which should make the betting interesting since some of the horses haven't run on dirt before - they run on a surface called Polytrack.
