Got to be a record

#1 Post by tlynn78 » Wed Mar 17, 2021 4:58 pm

Guy came in yesterday to get his marriage license. Went away mad, as he wasn't yet divorced, so we couldn't issue it. (Dissolution hearing set for this afternoon). He was divorced at 1:30, came up and we recorded the divorce, issued marriage license, and he filed the completed marriage license approximately 2 hours after his divorce was final. At least the bride was not his most recent ex-wife... ah, love...

At the end of my divorce ruling, the judge told me not to get married for 30 days (no problem there!). I think in our state at the time the divorce decree could be easily appealed within that 30 day time frame.

I was shocked a few days ago when I read that there is just one state where employment isn't "at will": Montana!

Actually, that's a good thing that the judge told you that. I can see some newly-ex spouse being petty enough to appeal it just for spite, especially if that person suspected a new spouse awaiting in the wings.

Divorced?

WTF????

No worries Ace buddy. I married a lovely young lady one week after I had graduated from college. While we thought we had a lot in common it turned out that being married wasn't one of them. After 6-1/2 years of good & bad times and really trying to make it work, we both realized that it wasn't going happen - at least not for a very enjoyable future together. We were young enough to decide that it would be better for both of us to call it quits and try to live happier lives without each other. While I'm not proud about being divorced, it was totally without drama and all the 'stuff' that frequently leads to a split. We made the marriage together and we decided to dissolve the marriage together for the best for both of us.

Two years later I married Nancy. A total contrast and a testament that just the mix of different people can make an amazing difference. Thirty-two years and three kids later and life is good - very good.

Mrs. SSS's first husband remarried three days after their divorce became final. She had no idea he was seeing someone else when he moved out and moved in with future wife #2. She met me three years later.

I'm betting that it took her a while to get over that fact.

HA! We could get into a whole new world of bored conflict depending on how I answered that one! :D

But of course I was referring to the two really big issues: (1) That he left her for someone else and (2) That she had no idea. I would think that either one of those would put someone off of the idea of getting married again for quite a while.

I would have hit 40 on June 19 if I had been crazy enough to stay married to my first wife.

Well, it did upset her but she pretty much got it all out of her system by the time I met her. And we're coming up on 37 years in another month or so. And her first husband is dead after pretty much being bedridden for the last two years of his life, which meant that his second wife had to take care of him all the time.
