top o' the mornin'®
This day has not started out well - I caught the bus but realized about halfway to work that I had forgotten some important papers that I needed so I had to rouse elwing from her slumber and get her to bring them to me. Then I forgot to take out my cell phone before passing through the metal detector and had to be wanded. I went to the snack bar to purchase a Coke Zero, put my money into the machine, got my change but the bottle didn't come out. And when I got to my desk my computer refused to let me login, saying my account was locked (at least this one resolved itself by a restart). The good news is that all the bad stuff is out of the way already, so the rest of the day should be good.

Must be the phase of the moon. I've got a customer audit today. I headed to work very early to get some additional stuff prepared, and realized about ten minutes of driving that I had forgotten my access badge. No one else would be there that early, so I had to turn around and go back to get it.
My good news is that I still managed to get the preparations done. Or so I believe. The audit awaits.

I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

In our office it means that the CAC (common access card) system is not functioning properly. About once a week someone in the office has this problem and has to have their card reset. Fortunately I didn't have to resort to that since the person who does that, our security officer, doesn't arrive until 8AM.MarleysGh0st wrote:Whew!earendel wrote:And when I got to my desk my computer refused to let me login, saying my account was locked (at least this one resolved itself by a restart).

Maybe it's different when you work for the government.earendel wrote:In our office it means that the CAC (common access card) system is not functioning properly. In private industry, being locked out of your computer can be the first sign that there'll be a layoff announcement.

They should do the announcement and then the lock out. That is, unless the annoucement gets leaked before the announcement happens.

The government doesn't work that way. In fact there aren't layoffs very often - there is the occasional RIF (Reduction In Force) but those are known well in advance and the persons involved know who will be going (or moving to other positions).MarleysGh0st wrote:Maybe it's different when you work for the government.earendel wrote:In our office it means that the CAC (common access card) system is not functioning properly. The idea is that they don't want any irate employees deleting files between getting their pink slip and getting booted out the door.peacock2121 wrote:Pretty silly.MarleysGh0st wrote:Maybe it's different when you work for the government.earendel wrote: In our office it means that the CAC (common access card) system is not functioning properly. Especially those computer types who could wreck havoc with the system.MarleysGh0st wrote:The idea is that they don't want any irate employees deleting files between getting their pink slip and getting booted out the door.peacock2121 wrote:Pretty silly.MarleysGh0st wrote: Maybe it's different when you work for the government.
