I Learned Something Today

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:55 pm

About a week ago, DirecTV stopped carrying our local NBC channel (and an independent channel owned by the same company). Channels 11 and 36 are also unavailable on AT&T Uverse as well. I didn't do anything at first because these disputes usually work themselves out in a day or two. Naturally, each side is calling the other unreasonable and blaming the other for the shutdown. And I can watch NBC shows next day on Hulu, but we couldn't watch live football. But this dispute has dragged on, and we haven't seen Jeopardy for over a week now with the last handful of Alex Trebek's shows running out.

Then today, I learned about Locast, which has apparently been around for quite a while It offers live broadcasts of all the on-air channels (including those digital channels that share the band with another channel) in about 20 major cities, including Atlanta (www.locast.org). It's also available for Roku, Amazon, Android and i--phone. And it's free.

I feel like an idiot that I didn't know this before today.
