Paul Sarbanes, longtime U.S. senator from Maryland who championed protection of Chesapeake Bay, dies at 87

Sarbanes attended Princeton and Harvard Law and was a Rhodes Scholar. He served in the House of Representatives for three terms and the Senate for five terms. As Chair of the Senate Banking Committee, he wrote the Sarbanes-Oxley Act that regulated the accounting profession.
