Steve Bannon Arrested on Federal Fraud Charges

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Thu Aug 20, 2020 8:48 am

Another one of Donald Trump's "very fine people," Steve Bannon, has been arrested along with three other people on federal wire fraud and money laundering charges in connection with a fund-raising organization that was supposed to help fund the border wall. Bannon was fired by Trump three years ago, but he has since been a Fox News contributor who continues to speak highly of his old boss and was rumored to be back in Trump's good graces and likely to get a position in the campaign going forward. I guess those plans are on hold now.

After the scandals involving the NRA, the Trump Foundation and Trump's 2016 Iowa rally that was supposedly a fundraiser for veterans, I'm not surprised that Bannon scammed his own donors too.

I'm now at the point of questioning every move the Department of Justice makes. Was this a truly independent investigation by mid-level attorneys, directed by a U.S. Attorney? Or might the Attorney General himself be pulling the strings-- maybe because there were internecine feuds between factions in the White House, or maybe because the AG feels the need to "appear" independent from the White House? And of course, dangling pardons may or may not play a role in the eventual outcome.

So far, Trump is going for the "I barely knew him" defense.

It's ironic that he was arrested by U.S. Postal Inspectors.

And next week, he'll claim that when he said this that he was being sarcastic.

Neither was Brian Beutner. Note the date. --Bob
