This probably does in my Small Town match, because I realized later that big's opposite is actually little, so I need a Large band and we don't have one (yet)...

Too bad, because matching song #35 with itself would be clever. And I won't look for Venus (Bruno Mars).

I dunno, I think big and small are pretty good opposites. I think Frank was being more demonstrative, since the dog/cat example was actually used in one of jarnon's partials, as well as another that didn't follow the rules of the game (the opposite word has to be in the artist's name, so using Big for O Little Town is outside the rules of the game.)

Also, I didn't realize until now that esto gave me the match I had been looking for, but I didn't realize it because of the popular abbreviation for the band's name:

14. Electric LIGHT orchestra (Dark) + 84. Sentimental LADY = Dark Lady, by 64. Cher.

That's right. Big and small are very legitimate oppostites.

Okay, how does Rainy Day Women #12 and 35.......okay, never mind, I just answered my own question.

I was trying to figure out if #12 and 35 was left off because it was supposed to be Rainy Day Woman by Waylon Jennings. Very clever, Frank!

Meanwhile, this would work for a triple, right?

68. I don't like a thing about your mother,
And I hate your daddy's guts, too,
I don't like a thing about your sister, no, no
'Cause I, I, I, think sex is overrated, too.

I Hate Everything about You - Ugly Kid Joe

Love, Nothing and Pretty

And, I forgot to do the quote, but the Molly song is by Future. Can't remember the title, but Future and Living in the Past (Jethro Tull is on here with Aqualung) would work, right?

New consolidation…

Identify the 100 songs below. Then, match them into 40 trios according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

• One song will be used three times, each time in a different capacity.

• Thirteen songs will be used twice, each time in a different capacity.

• Five songs will be used twice, each time in the same capacity.

Let’s kick things off with a song that I have been unjustly accused of including in every lyrics game….

*1. I WANNA BE A COWBOY - BOYS DON'T CRY
2. ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK - BILL HALEY & HIS COMETS
*3. WEDDING BELL BLUES - FIFTH DIMENSION
4. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS - CHARLIE RICH
*5. SHUT UP AND DANCE - WALK THE MOON
*6. IT’S ALL OVER NOW - THE ROLLING STONES
7. WAITING (FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU) - FOREIGNER
*8. HIP HOP HOORAY - NAUGHTY BY NATURE
*9. UNDER THE BOARDWALK - THE DRIFTERS

10. The Lord above gave man an arm of iron
So he could do his job and never shirk.
A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK (from My Fair Lady)

11. I can't suddenly stop,
You changed me from cold to hot,
Now I'm ready to give you all the love I've got,
Please don't leave me now.

12. OPPOSITES ATTRACT - PAULA ABDUL
13. ALL OF ME - JOHN LEGEND
*14. DON'T BRING ME DOWN - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA
15. LEAVE IT - YES

16. Jan lays down and wrestles in her sleep,
Moonlight spills on comic books
And superstars in magazines,
An old friend calls and tells us where to meet,
Her plane takes off from Baltimore
And touches down on Bourbon Street.
PRIMITIVE RADIO GODS

One match on the most recent consolidation is questionable because I don't think the 'opposite' is really legit. Otherwise, this is going great!

Some of the incomplete identifications will need to be completed.

I assume that means all the complete song titles and artists are right, so I'll go back and delete their lyrics.

My guess would be the Jewel match, since it's the only pair of opposites so far that is a bit sketchy...

I was thinking the same thing. I kept looking for a DIAMOND, since that would make a better opposite for Rhinestone, and I really wanted rhinestone cowboy. But since you found the Boys Don't Cry match, maybe we don't need it.

I would bet a lot of money that Boys Don't Cry is also here for Boys/Girls (Was looking for California until you found the Beach Boys match)... which is why I figured there's no way it was here for its title since the only three-use song is here for all three capacities. No, I'm an idiot. Multiple "Boys" artists... including (Duh) the Beach Boys!

Not to mention it could be one of the five that's used twice in the same capacity. It remains to be seen whether that's the same opposite word used in two different song titles, or whether it means one group has two different opposites in its name. Like ODB could be Clean, or New, or Young, or Legitimate.

I thought about that and had intended to write the name in full for that reason. By the time I got through the unfinished list and started typing a reply, I had forgotten about that and switched to LS mode. Sorry about that!

21. EVERYTHING IS awesome + 68. UGLY Kid Joe (Beautiful) = Everything is Beautiful, by 58. Ray Stevens.

I really want someone to identify a group with the word Take in its name, so we can get Give A Little Bit for Supertramp.

Also a group with "ON" in its name, so we can get it Shake it Off for TSwift.

Back for Good - Take That

67. She get it, pop it, lock it, drop it,
That birthday cake,
Got a candle, need to blow that crazy flame away,
Now take my red, black car and my jewelry.

Fire Burning - Sean Kingston

90. I'm ready and hyped, plus I'm amped
Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps.
Sample a look back you look and find
Nothing but rednecks for four hundred years.

Fight the Power - Public Enemy

Damn it, now I wish I hadn't erased those other answers.....

Thoughts:

Public Enemy could go with Private Eyes (I recall seeing Maneater on the list)

What's Luv could go with I Hate Everything about you (hey, I got both parts on that one!)

Back for Good would go nicely with a Bad song. Was there a Grand Funk song on the list?

Sean Kingston did Beautiful Girls which could go with Ugly Kid Joe

Robbie Williams was in a band named "Take That," but I don't know any of their songs.

Some of the incomplete identifications will need to be completed.

It would be so good if the opposite match was Feats Don't Fail Me now.... I don't recall seeing Dixie Chicken which is too bad, because Little Feat would be a good opposite for something Big...

Dammit! As soon as I saw Esto's post, I started looking for lyrics that might've come from that song. I even zeroed in on the right set, but scrolling down, saw I was too late...

Seriously! I can't believe that was the last song identified. Especially since the first two sets recognized were the other "number" songs...
