69 was only an estimate. He was always rather secretive about his age and, well pretty much everything about himself. This story from NPR lists his age at 127.

He said he was 127 in his self-written obituary.

About a million years ago, my ex and I watched Leon Redbone on Saturday Night Live, then promptly went out and bought On the Track. I enjoyed it for years until the stereo broke.

He was a great artist.
