RIP My Brother Bill

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Sat Apr 13, 2019 8:37 am

I lost my only sibling yesterday, a month and a half shy of his 58th birthday. Just THREE FREAKING WEEKS ago he was diagnosed with cancer. Prior to that, we had NO indication there was anything wrong, other than he was feeling rundown, but we attributed that to the fact that he had been working a lot of overtime. The cancer ran over him like a Mack truck and losing him so quickly blindsided us all. Even as of Thursday there was no reason to suspect it would be his last day on Earth. He was on oxygen, was feeling fairly weak, but otherwise...

But in the early morning hours his breathing got worse and shortly thereafter, he was gone.

My obvious inclination when making my computer rounds this morning was that there was no way I could continue playing D or A but then I thought about Miss Lizbit and her reason for answering "alive" for everyone on the list..that everyone is alive on one plane of existence or another, even if only in memories. To that end, with apologies to Miss Lizbit for being a copycat, and begging your forgiveness if this makes me sound like a melodramatic idiot, I am going to follow her wonderful example.

Thank you for the inspiration, Miss Lizbit.

I'm so very sorry both for your loss and for the speed with which it happened. --Bob

I'm so sorry T-bone. I don't know what else to say. He was so young and it was so quick.

Thank you one and all. It is good in one respect that he didn't have to endure a long, drawn-out period of suffering. What is not so good is that we STILL don't know exactly what he was dealing with. The coroner has finished his work and we are waiting to get the full report. He had cancer, that much is certain...but at last update, the point of origin had yet to be determined. They did say lung cancer..and no, he was never a smoker...but apparently no lesions or masses were found on his lungs. He was diagnosed with pneumonia when first admitted to the hospital but a week later they said the pneumonia was gone and they sent him home with more tests scheduled to determine the details of the cancer. Several days later he was back in the hospital and again they were talking pneumonia.

It's been very confusing...but my wife found something while Googling his symptoms. There are numerous similarities in this to what my brother was going through.

So again, I am comforted that his suffering was in a mercifully short time, but what is frustrating is that we were still waiting to find out WHAT he was dealing with so that the fight could begin. And what pisses me off is that we never even got the chance to draw our swords.
