Cheap Date
We've started going to the movies on Tuesday mornings because it's the only free day we both have off.
Last week we saw Leatherheads, which sucked, and the cost was $8.00 for two tickets. Afterwards we went to In and Out Burger, and spent $10.95 on lunch, so our date cost $18.95.
Today we saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was really good and the cost was once again $8.00 for two tickets. For lunch, I used a coupon to Carl's Junior and we spent $4.95 for two Famous Star meals. The total cost of our date $12.95.
I am not sure that we can do a cheaper date of movies and lunch unless we stay home.

In the "Disco Era" you could buy someone a Marguerita on Tuesday night for 50 cents, and you sometimes got more than a date.....

I saw ads for that movie on the Toronto transit system; quite ingenious -- myself and my group of friends were wondering "Who is Sarah Marshall and who's the rich boyfriend that can't get over the break-up?"PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Today we saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was really good and the cost was once again $8.00 for two tickets. (If you haven't seen them, I don't know how far-reaching they are, but they're basically taglines like "I am SO over you, Sarah Marshall" and "You DO look fat in those jeans, Sarah Marshall" made to look like notes on a sheet of paper, with the web link ihatesarahmarshall.com at the bottom of the ad)

I saw an interview with people named Sarah Marshall. Some appreciated the signs more than others.OntarioQuizzer wrote:I saw ads for that movie on the Toronto transit system; quite ingenious -- myself and my group of friends were wondering "Who is Sarah Marshall and who's the rich boyfriend that can't get over the break-up?"PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Today we saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was really good and the cost was once again $8.00 for two tickets. It's very nice. The movies aren't crowded and because the girls aren't with us, we don't feel the need to buy popcorn and junk food. The best part is that they start early enough that we can get lunch afterwards and pick up Maddie at 1:45.peacock2121 wrote:I have never considered morning movies - I have done afternoon movies and then a 6:00 dinner.
I am kinda liking your idea.
I wonder if they do morning movies in Poughtown.

You also might , for the girls health and well being, stop feeling like you need to buy popcorn and junk food for them.

I know, but it's part of the movie-going experience for them. We don't take them to the movies very often because it's difficult to find something that's interesting for both, while being age-appropriate, so I usually go all out when they do go.peacock2121 wrote:Wow! Re: Cheap Date
A couple of years ago, some friends and I went to what used to be the Edwards Woodbridge theatre in Irvine. It had changed owners and was now called the Starplex. We were very pleasantly surprised to learn they have early-70's prices. There's one in La Mirada, too:PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Today we saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was really good and the cost was once again $8.00 for two tickets.
