Boxer Victor Ortiz surrendered at the Ventura County Sheriff Department's East Valley Station in connection with a months-long sexual assault investigation. Police said a woman told them on March 19 that she was sexually assaulted by Ortiz inside a home.

The 25 Candidates for 2018 Sunk by #MeToo Allegations
The writer of the Atlantic article linked above wrote:Rod Hamilton, Minnesota state representative, Republican
Allegation: The Star Tribune reported on April 27 that the Minnesotan Emily Schlecht, who works as an advocate for sexual-assault survivors, had filed a police report accusing Hamilton of unwanted touching.
Response: “I categorically deny accusations of sexual assault,” Hamilton said in a statement. “I deeply regret the effect my actions had on Ms. Schlecht.” Hamilton also said he reported the incident to the state House of Representatives’ human-resources department. The House hired two attorneys to investigate whether Hamilton violated the chamber’s harassment policy.
Status: House Republican leaders suspended Hamilton as the leader of a committee. He remains in office, and is running for reelection. An investigation is ongoing under the Minnesota state legislature’s sexual-harassment policy.
Next election will be: 2018
David Shafer, Georgia state senator and lieutenant gubernatorial candidate, Republican
Allegation: On March 6, a female statehouse lobbyist filed a sexual-harassment complaint with the Georgia General Assembly alleging that Shafer retaliated against her after she refused his advances.
Response: Shafer denied the allegations: “This false complaint is about politics, not the truth, and that’s why it is no coincidence that it was filed the day after I qualified to run for lieutenant governor,” he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I welcome an investigation and will cooperate fully.”
Status: On April 13, the state Senate Ethics Committee announced that it did not find evidence to support the harassment claim in its investigation into Shafer’s conduct and the claim was dismissed. Shafer remains in office, but lost the lieutenant gubernatorial primary in late July.
Next election will be: 2018

Re: The Harvey List
No, what Democrats do is investigate claims and call for people to accept responsibility, as judged by the many people who have said Northam should resign. They don't just circle the wagons and judge things on a results oriented basis as Republicans did with Kavanaugh. Based on what I've heard so far, there's far less substantiation of this woman's claim than there was of Kavanaugh's. And one thing we've found with sexual predators is that they rarely do it once. If Fairfax assaulted this woman, it's a fair bet he did it with others and they will be considerably more likely to come forward now.flockofseagulls104 wrote: He's a dem, so nobody's gonna make a stink about it. As for "advocating killing newborn infants," that's the usual right wing misrepresentation when they try to fan flames about any issue related to abortion. So, it's par for the course for you, Flock.

How were the accusations against Kavanaugh more substantiated? There was absolutely no substantiation. At the end of the day, none.
With regards to killing babies, have you heard the actual words coming out of Northam's mouth? He was even given the opportunity to clarify what he said. He confirmed it. Live birth. Then the doctor and mother decide IF they will continue to keep the baby alive, or let it die.
And the left compares Republicans to Nazis. smh

As usual, you left a few things out. Here's Northam's quote (and he is a pediatric neurosurgeon by the way and knows a good bit more about this branch of medicine than the yahoos who are out to get him):BackInTex wrote:

What this means is that the physician and mother would discuss whether to continue keeping a non-viable baby alive through extraordinary measures. That's the exact same situation that parents face when dealing with a minor child of any age in that situation.[Late term abortion] is done in cases where there may be severe deformities. There may be a fetus that's not viable. So in this particular example, if a mother's in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.

Re: The Harvey List
This is personal for me. Something over 17 years ago, my sister and her husband faced that exact decision. They learned during my sister's third trimester that their daughter would be born without several organs that are simply vital for life outside the womb. Extraordinary measures could have extended her existence for a few hours, or possibly days, but she had no chance of extended survival. And the measures necessary to achieve this extension would have been highly intrusive (in the medical sense) and, to the extent she could feel pain, quite painful for my niece.BackInTex wrote:Josef Mengele was pretty smart, too.silverscreenselect wrote:Here's Northam's quote (and he is a pediatric neurosurgeon by the way and knows a good bit more about this branch of medicine than the yahoos who are out to get him):...
