Jordin Sparks throat problems

#1 Post by Snaxx » Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:44 pm

The American Idol winner has a throat condition silencing her for a few weeks.

Earlier the word was that she had such a serious condition that she might never be able to sing again. Now it just looks like Dodgersteve doesn't have to worry about hearing her when the Alicia Keys tour hits the LA area. Jordin may rejoin the tour later in May if she has recovered fully. I hope she takes it easy!

I hope she doesn't try to get back too soon. I know she feels like she is missing out, but she is successful and she needs to avoid doing anything that might permanently damage her voice.

Another update:

The Arizona Republic
Although the record label initially said all of Sparks' April activities would be postponed or canceled, Washington's office later revised that statement, saying Sparks was expected to return to the tour "shortly."

Rapper Ne-Yo also is opening for Keys on the tour, which started Saturday in Virginia without Sparks.

Phoenix vocal coach and instructor Stev Tyszka said the amount of rest required for such a problem can vary and that "typically, it's not a major thing."

ABC News:
A vocal chord injury could permanently strip "American Idol" season six winner Jordin Sparks of her singing voice if she does not abide by doctor's orders and rest, several throat specialists told ABCNEWS.com.

Scarring from a vocal chord injury could make a difference for a professional singer, said Dr. Peter Catalano, chairman of the department of otolaryngology at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. "It may change your ability to sing certain types of songs or potentially, if it's really bad, affect your ability to sing altogether."

Numerous crooners, including Elton John, Steven Tyler (lead singer of Aerosmith) and Jessica Simpson, have reportedly had their careers temporarily sidelined by vocal injuries.

Maybe she'll learn to sing instead of scream all the time.

She was supposed to be here on Saturday. No big outcry over her absence so far.

....Jessica Simpson, have reportedly had their careers temporarily sidelined by vocal injuries.

How can we help make this not so temporary?

See, I was right. She doesn't need to go back too soon. Why doesn't anyone ever listen to me?

Thankfully, I haven't been hearing much about Idol for the first time since JPL and Red were all the rage. I do know whoever the guy was that got kicked off a couple weeks ago was one of her faves, but I don't know if it was THE fave (Her fave's almost always been whoever has "the eyes" ever since Ace the Face was on).

I don't even know their names this season, so life has been good.... :P

Well, then she used to like Michael Johns, which is perfectly acceptable (both "hot" and good!), but "the eyes" this year are accompanied by a headful of long dreadlocks, which I can't see your mom approving of. Plus, I've already adopted the kid, so you have to split your allowance with him. :P

I'll take that back. Constantine came before Ace, so he started the trend...

You get the picture. Look for the dumbass with long hair and "the eyes" and you've got your perfect Beast's Mom Idol contestant....

You were half right.... it's David Cook. And apparently, that's been her man all season long.

I was also told to mention to my "friends on the computer" that Brooke looks an awful lot like Sister #2, and not just by my Mom's weird standards, but other people have actually told her they look alike....

Really? Cook? I guess he's from Missouri, so he's semi-local. Dude always looks like he needs a bath. So we never will like the same person.

Brooke is a ringer for a girl in Mini-me's class, too.

Location has nothing to do with the Cook choice I'm sure. It probably has more to do with the fact that he's not your favorite... :P

I looked up Brooke and there is definitely a resemblance to Sister #2. Then again, if anyone is the mailman's kid in our family it's her. Me and my other three sisters look almost identical outside of our hair, but #2 definitely got the bulk of my parents' recessive genes....
