bob-tel, once an FBI investigation is called for, and extended, they will get more he said, she said, and they will ask about farts and f-f-f-f-f-f. And more media circus acts. And more character assassination. They have him there. They can ask him whatever they want. Instead, they are trying to make him into a slobbering drunk. The key thing you keep ignoring is the dems had this accusation for months, got a lawyer for the accuser and did NOTHING until they needed it to delay the vote.Bob78164 wrote:If he were my client and he insisted he was telling the truth, I certainly would. Re: Kavanaugh
The reason for investigating and for calling Judge as a witness (and possibly others) is so that we can get past the "he said, she said" aspect of this and see what corroborating or substantiating evidence there is. There is a big difference between someone writing a letter or sending in a statement and that same person answering to the FBI. As George Pappadapolous found out, lying to the FBI is a federal crime. Writing a letter filled with lies or signing on in support of Kavanaugh is not.flockofseagulls104 wrote: They have him there. They can ask him whatever they want.
And regardless of whether the Democrats had good or bad motives, you are losing track of what should be the central issue here. If this were a private lawsuit between Ford and Kavanaugh, then the tactics of one side could be grounds for sanctions, including dismissal of the case. This is a hearing to decide whether Kavanaugh has the requisite qualities, including integrity and moral fitness, to serve on the highest Court in this country, potentially for decades. That's more important than his feelings or her feelings or whether Diane Feinstein and the Democrats may have pulled off some stunt or not.

Re: Kavanaugh
The Democrats didn't. Dianne Feinstein did. Her handling of this event may well affect my vote in November. Although Republicans are in no position to complain about delay and game-playing in connection with the confirmation (or Merrick Garlanding) of Supreme Court nominees.flockofseagulls104 wrote:bob-tel, once an FBI investigation is called for, and extended, they will get more he said, she said, and they will ask about farts and f-f-f-f-f-f. But none of this has anything to do with whether or not the accusation is true. And the position many Republicans seem to be taking (including many in the Senate) is that because it took the accusation so long to see the light of day, they care more about pushing the nomination to a vote than about finding out whether it's true. I find that despicable. --Bob

Re: Kavanaugh
So here we are. As I predicted, no opinions have changed.
Dr. Ford was compelling. I feel for her. But she had no facts, only emotion. If she is still looking for some closure, it was said that there was no statute of limitations. Let her press charges.
Kavanaugh submitted his calendar, and the dems could not specify anything from it. He was also very compelling. And after his opening statement, I think he was advised to tone it down, and would not respond to the leading questions the dems were asking him. I have already stated what he probably wanted to say but gave a non-commital answer to.
I think he should be confirmed. If for no other reason than to show that this kind of circus will not work in the future.
Now I will turn on the sound and see what the pundits think, SSS. Will we go back to Feb 2nd? How long will it take?

I don't know if the pundits have pointed this out, aSSShole, but I haven't heard any say anything about it, but there were several instances of this. Here's the most striking one:
Senator Whitehorse was OBVIOUSLY reading from a pre-prepared script. He should fire his staff. He obviously did not listen to Kavanaugh's opening statement, where he emotionally apologized to Renate, and explained what the Alumnius meant.
Whitehorse brought that up among the fart, ffffff and Bermuda Triangle smears. His staff should have crossed that part out.
Most, if not all, of the dems seemed to have a script they were following.
If this is stated in Bitebart, they are parroting me.
I think Ms. Mitchell was a good idea, but it didn't work out well. They should have fired her sooner.

One last thing. I don't like Lindsay Graham. But he raised himself in my eyes today by saying what needed to be said.
Immediately afterwards, Whitehorse embarrassed himself and the dems by reading his script about farts in high school, pretty much confirming what Graham said.
