Government racism in Georgia schools

In this story, the superintendent of schools for Buford, Georgia, is recorded repeatedly using the n-word. He's the subject of a racial discrimination suit for firing a district employee. The school population is 46% minority. The school board is 100% white. --Bob

Wow. That's all I can say.
What is surprising is that his racism is just now coming to light. What that tells me is that everyone he interacts with has a similar attitude towards blacks. Terrible.

Hamby makes $308,000 per year as superintendent of the 4,800-student Buford School district.

As a point of reference, our superintendent, makes $418K, but our district has 115,525 students (56 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, and 12 high schools).

Fortunately, an attempt to close down seven out of nine voting locations in Randolph County, a small, rural, predominantly black county failed. The locations were open during the primary and runoff election last month, but, since then, a "consultant" recommended they be closed because they were in violation of the ADA. Voting rights activists quickly heard about this and raised a stink, calling national attention to the matter, and the county election board refused to adopt the plan at a heavily attended meeting last night. In Georgia, the Republican Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, is running for governor against Stacy Abrams, a black Democrat, in what is expected to be a close race. The consultant involved (who has since been fired) had no official connection to Kemp's office but had contributed to his governor's campaign.

However in reading this 'news' story, the following paragraph is just as bad.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Buford School Superintendent Geye Hamby (pronounced alternately as “Guy” or “racist anal douche”) is the focus of a racial discrimination lawsuit after the district fired 66-year-old Mary Ingram.

This kind of thing has NO place in a 'news' story. Not that it's inaccurate, but it brings the reporter down to the level of the asswipe he or she is reporting on. The article says 'according to the AJC'. Did the AJC include this slur as part of their 'news' report?

The way the sentence is constructed, I think the AJC is responsible only for the last part of the sentence ... "is the focus" etc.

I would be pissed if I were the AJC and I were included in that section about the "pronunciation," yes. That is not journalism.

Hamby is at the center of a race discrimination lawsuit filed in June that includes audio recordings of a man who repeatedly uses the n-word and speaks of wanting to kill a black construction worker who’d angered him. The lawsuit says the man making those comments is Hamby. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Ed Buckley, said he’s had an expert examine the recordings and is certain it’s the school leader.
