News!!!
We have added another generation to the family tree.
Kayleigh Ann was born this afternoon at 1:13 MDT, weighing 6 lbs 3 oz, measuring 19.5 inches.
I will do my damnedest to have her call me Papa, but she is the first and gets naming rights.
She is early. Her due date was the 27th. I had booked the rental car and hotels to drive to Denver (along with 3 kids and a son in law) on Friday and Saturday, but we discussed it, everyone called their bosses and got the O.K.s and our house/pet sitter is good with it, so we are leaving tomorrow evening and will arrive in Denver Tuesday around dinner time.
The plus of the early arrival is we will be able to see the Astros play the Rockies Wednesday night at Coors Field (mom and baby won't want two crazy grandparents and 4 wild aunts and uncles hanging around the entire time). Second plus is we will be in Denver over a weekend rather than spending both weekends driving to and back, so my daughter who will be working remotely the entire week can go hiking with us in the mountains.
The change in plans is costing a little more as I somehow secured really good rates at the hotel we are staying at, but now the rates have gone up and they aren't available for the first two days, so we will stay in a hotel a little farther away from my daughter's house, and pay even more. But one daughter doesn't have to fly back early now to work so we're saving that airfare. And I'm having to use another vacation day, but I won't use all my vacation hours up before I quit in September anyway.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson
War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

Wonderful news.
Papa was the name my dad was graced with by wee Jamie, and it is a name to wear with pride.

Congratulations, Papa!
You are now set to embark on a wonderful voyage of spoiling a child rotten. Or, as we veteran grandparents call it, revenge of the parent!
Enjoy...
