Re: Joey Chestnut does it again
My only question is how come Chestnut doesn't weigh about 500 pounds by now.Beebs52 wrote:It's hard to watch the contest, urp, but George Shea, the emcee, is fab.

No kidding. They said he ate salmon and something then fasted before. He beats some big ol boys. And the contenders are smallish, too.silverscreenselect wrote:My only question is how come Chestnut doesn't weigh about 500 pounds by now.Beebs52 wrote:It's hard to watch the contest, urp, but George Shea, the emcee, is fab.

Re: Joey Chestnut does it again
Some fun facts about the 2018 contest:
• There was some controversy about the scoring. They announced Chestnut as the winner with 64 hot dogs & buns eaten, but Joey claimed he had eaten 74. They found that someone has miscounted his empty plates (10 dogs each) and upped his count to the record-breaking 74. Various reports have the second place guy, Carmen Cincotti, at 63 or 64, so Joey would have tied him or still beaten him without the 7th empty plate. Had his count remained at 64, he still would have beaten the third place guy, Darron Breeden, by 21 dogs.
• In one article, they said that Nathan's sells their original hot dog for $4.95. That means that Joey consumed $366.30 worth of hot dogs in 10 min.
• In a different article, they said that according to Nathan’s hot dog nutritional info, each hot dog with bun has 24 grams of carbs. 74 dogs * 24g = 1776 grams of carbs. Quite appropriate for the 4th of July!

Re: Joey Chestnut does it again
Joey Chestnut will not compete at 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest
For the first time since 2015, the Mustard Belt will be around a new, very bloated waist come Independence Day.
Joey Chestnut has chomped competition in Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest every Fourth of July since 2007, save one year when he was unseated (and over-eated) by Matt Stonie. This year, Chestnut won't be able to defend the Mustard Belt due to a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods.
As first reported by the New York Post, Chestnut won't be participating in this year's contest amidst a dispute with Major League Eating, the organization which sanctions the contest.
According to the Post, Chestnut has agreed to a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods, a brand that sells meat substitutes. That is a no-no for MLE and Nathan's leaving the partnership belly up.
