I'm going to need a new icon for the unfortunate few who forget to pass the written test. I'll probably use

I'd feel better if it were more colorful, and I'd certainly prefer the old blue sad face, but that appears not to be an option. --Bob

I'll stay off the drugs this year.

My audition date is May 21st.

First off, WELCOME PEG! And be careful what you wish for...

Secondly, if I may be so bold as to make a suggestion to the wonderful Bob of Many Numbers, maybe it would be easiest to just edit the first post in this thread with the updates, rather than posting a whole new list every time you add a name. That way, the list at the top would always be the latest and greatest.

Thirdly, should I choose to tilt at the windmill again this year, I probably won't add myself until the deed is either accomplished or I fail miserably. I'm superstitious that way....

But (and lastly) best of luck to this year's crop. May this be the year the real PTB elect to pluck some great, ripe fruit (no, I don't just mean myself! I'm a vegetable!) from this low-hanging tree! Bonne chance, mes amis!

I don't know if I have plentiful tips, since I've not yet gotten the "happy postcard", but one thing I hear a lot that I can confirm to be true is that questions from the test are from past seasons of the show, so if you watch the show regularly or look over transcripts from the past season, it will help you.

Sorry I won't get to meet you, we have the same audition date but I'm in for the 5:45 slot- I'll be coming in from work.

Welcome, Peg! I'm glad you accepted Bob's suggestion to come over from the J! board for a visit.

As for tips, you'd be well advised to do nothing I've ever done at an audition.

At the interview part of it, anyway.

I've got some charts showing plate tectonics, tidal patterns, moon phases, and sunspot activity to predict when the best time to audition is if anyone's interested. My predictions are now 100% accurate, with a slight error of +/- 18 years, so let me know.... if you can reach me...

Welcome, Peggles! Jump in any time on any topic. No expertise required, ever. That is, many people are knowledgable about a variety of topics, but that never stops everybody else from chiming in, too.

The best audition advice ever boiled down to one sentence came from a Las Vegas woman who has been on WWTBAM as well as a number of other quiz and game shows: "Be yourself, only bigger."

I'm a bit confused about the dress code. It says 'casual' in the email...surely I'd expect 'business casual'?

I'll be the first to offer a suggestion. For the men, slacks and shirt, polo and otherwise are fine. I don't think sloppy works. No t-shirts, shorts or flip flops. That being said, I'm sure there have been those who have worn that exact outfit and have been on the show....and been able to get into 7-11.
This approach worked for me. I'll let the ladies offer their suggestions.

Business casual is what worked for me. (For me, it was just plain "business," but I worked in a casual place.) For each audition, I wore a jacket in a bright color, not only to show up in the polaroid photo, but to make it easier for the APs to remember "the woman in the turquoise jacket" or whatever. Beneath that, I added a top and pants or a skirt selected for comfort and whatever worked with my then-favorite shoes. Above all, pick something that gives you self-confidence or always musters compliments from your friends. You simply will feel better, and that will be reflected that in your interview.

I think women should pick something that they would be cool to go on a first date in at a casual restaurant. Something they feel good in wearing to make a good first impression. That they feel comfortable and confident in. Something that suits their style but you would think that a 20 something AP would not hold against you.

I wore a black Lacoste t-shirt, neat dressy blue jeans, groovy black wedges and a bunch of silver jewelry.

I made sure to touch up my makeup before the test because I wasn't sure if I could do it before the in-person audition.

I guess it was a good outfit to wear for a good first impression because a guy I met at the audition asked me out on a date afterwards....and more importantly, I got a happy card.

Most important thing to wear is an easy smile. If you watch the show, all the contestants from whatever background smile a lot.

Make it your job to make the APs job easier and more fun.

Expect nothing from them.

Have it be that it is not their job to bring out the best in you - it's your job to bring that out and your job to have them see it.

Lighten up their day.

Remember they have an entire day of interviewing people - some very boring people.

Be one who they want to keep around.

Act like you might act after a glass of wine or two - without the drunk part.

Don't be a MAWG.

Live within a 50 mile radius of the studio.

Have absolutely no interest in the show.

Do something completely asinine.

But of course, most importantly, just be yourself!
