Cataract replacement complete
lens used was for distance. I am blown away by the clarity of light and colour.
Dr. P said that the cataract removed was so cloudy, that I could have been classified legally blind in that eye

Glad to hear the results look promising. The drops are very important. When my mom had her eyes done in October & November, I made a little spreadsheet chart to check off each medication when taken. Taking different drops at different times for a few weeks gets routine and hard to track by memory alone.
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.

My doc said he will be going the distance route also. We are doing one eye.
Was the procedure itself not a biggie?

Weirdly enough, I would go for normal vision, not distance. I've been nearsighted all my life, & having to wear glasses for near rather than far vision would really irritate me.
So would learning to see through trifocals, though that's been suggested in my current state.

Normal vision is distance vision. It was nice to be able to walk around without glasses and use only the cheap drugstore glasses for reading. I will have to look continuous-focus up.
I've been walking around without glasses for years except for driving & reading whiteboards & power-point projections with teeny type. Part of the ageing process has me creeping toward being less nearsighted.

didn't feel a thing. My biggest problem was anxiety and remembering to hold totally still, but the nice nurse gave me an ativan, and and the surgeon was very personable, talking me through things.Ritterskoop wrote:So good to hear!

Post - op check up this am. He said it looked like I had the procedure 3 days ago, not yesterday. Will see him again in a week, and he has put me on this list again to get eye number 2 done in about 6 weeks or so. 2nd eye is always fasttracked.

My procedure went great. It helped to hear firsthand accounts.
When they came to get me to start the prep, the nurse said first we willget your blood pressure and other vitals. I said Dad and I had been talking Second Amendment so it might be high
I was in the procedure room for 8 minutes total. All good.

17 hours after the procedure it was 20/25, so I assume in a another day or two we will be at 20/20, yes.

I get my other eye done this coming Monday, as it has a cataract as well, not as bad as the other one was, but needing to be done. I am now able to drive at night again, for the first time in almost a year.
