I don't know what Patriot Prayer is, but it sounds like a Tea Party group, and according to their facebook page, they say they are non-violent and anti-bigotry. It also says that Southern Poverty doesn't list them as a hate group. SPLC pretty much lists anyone who has ever endorsed a republican as a hate group. I may be wrong about Patriot Prayer as an organization, but what is now stopping the left from branding anyone they don't like as 'alt-right' and activating their useful idiots to throw dog shit at them or worse? And when fights break out, blaming it on the 'hate' group.

It's less confrontational than what was going on in Charlottesville which is good when you're up against folks who are already agitated and less than reasonable but it is part of a terrible trend of how folks deal with those they disagree with.

Just concentrating on this reference to this Jeremy Christian guy. The article says he ATTENDED a rally. Later it says that Gibson denounced him. Yet it is used to imply that Gibson had something to do with the disgusting things that Christian did. What kind of logic is this? That's like saying that that Charles Manson once read one of your online movie reviews, so you are partly to blame for the murders he committed, and you must be a Manson follower.

Flock, it's amazing that someone could get to your age and still be that naïve, but I guess that's part of the reason why Donald Trump still has some supporters. These "free speech" rallies aren't just some gathering of modern-day William F. Buckleys looking to promote their views. They bring in whatever loonies they can find, a number of whom give speeches (that is when they actually decide to make speeches instead of just strut around), and even though this guy Gibson says he opposes these alt-right guys, they continue to show up and are obviously tacitly welcome.

I won't deny that some on the left have mixed it up with them in the past, but the entire purpose of these rallies isn't to promote free speech but to make trouble in an effort to make themselves appear to be innocent victims.

SSS, I have been to a number of conservative rallies in my time, ranging from one of Glenn Beck's rallies in Atlanta to local Tea Party rallies. None of these were in any way similar to the way they are portrayed on the left. The left seems to label anything that they don't agree with as extremist and dangerous. That may well be true of the people in Charlottesville and perhaps Gibson's rally, but I am extremely suspicious of the definitions of groups created by people like Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters et al, who I regard as haters themselves.
You remember the Tea Party rally by the Capitol where John Lewis said he was attacked with epithets and such? Remember that Andrew Brietbart offered $100,000 to anyone who could produce a video supporting anything that Lewis claimed? It has still not been awarded to any one, because it didn't happen. This is what I'm talking about. I am concerned that the mob is being willingly manipulated.

I guess you are completely bought into the idea that there were no innocent bystanders in the area just there to observe. I went to the anti trump woman's rally, but I certainly didn't associate myself with the 'Fuck Trump' marchers, and I consider myself a fine person. I was there just to observe and to see for myself what it was like, rather than rely on the news reports. If one of the FT marchers were to throw dog shit at me, I might get a bit pissed and express my displeasure, but I would never physically harm anyone. If someone caught me on their camera phone expressing my displeasure, I would then be publically branded as an angry trump supporter, or perhaps worse. That's how it seems to work nowadays. Every time SSS responds to a post of mine he makes it a point to label me in some way.

Not everyone in Charlottesville that day was a Neo-Nazi or an antifa, bob. Every single neo-nazi is a scumbag, but someone who came there to observe or maybe display their displeasure about the removal of the statue were not necessarily bad people. Every single antifa who came there in a black mask with a baseball bat or piece of wood with nails in it is also a scumbag. And apparently, they were also there. The counter-protesters were not necessarily bad people. Is that a difficult concept for you to grasp? It seems to be for the MSM.

Anyone who didn't do so (i.e., everyone on that side of the rally) is at a minimum enabling neo-Nazis and cannot possibly be described as a "very nice person."

Never again. That means that we will never again stand silent in the face of that bigotry. That means we will never again allow it to go unchallenged. It means that we will never again give a pass to those who stand by in apparently passive support of that bigotry and hatred. And it means that we will never again be silent in the face of those who would enable the enablers.

I was fortunate. My family left Europe in the 19th Century so as far as I know I lost no close relatives in the Holocaust. But I have damn well learned the lessons of those who weren't as lucky. Anyone on that side of that demonstration was utterly despicable. And anyone (including you, flock) who makes excuses for them, or who draws any kind of moral equivalence between the two sides, whether in some misguided attempt to score political points or for any other reason, is in serious need of recalibrating their moral compass. --Bob
