31 miles from downtown and I was still inside the city limits.

Hmmm. I just checked. That's pretty much the same distance as from The Woodlands to downtown. Seems farther to The Woodlands.
We have a forcefield that makes it seem farther. We like to keep the influx checked you know.

I hope everybody realizes that I'm being sarcastic. I never can tell anymore.
Well, then

Is this a plasma field or somehow related to Doc Brown's flux capacitor?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I lived next to Memorial Park, inside the loop, when I was there, but dated a guy who lived in Kingwood. It was always a little funny to me that I'd leave and then re-enter Houston on the drive up to see him.

There seems to be a lotta flux floating around lately--perhaps it is a capacitor stashed away under a shrub.

I especially enjoyed on that drive leaving Houston, entering Humble, leaving Humble, leaving Harris County, entering Montgomery County, re-entering Harris County and then continuing to drive through Houston to get to my house.

Made the trip seem much more exotic.

The bar where I play trivia is actually in Montgomery County near the entrance to Kingwood off 59. They are still in the extra-territorial zone of the City of Houston so no smoking indoors but they are in a precinct of Montgomery County that is "dry" so the bar has to be a club to serve alcohol. Fun for the bartenders to explain to new "members" of the club.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I don't think being in Houston's ETJ directs smoking laws. If that were the case then all the bars and restaurants in The Woodlands would have had no-smoking at the same time as Houston. And they don't. It's still allowed. Maybe there's something specific to that are of the county?
Well, then

Yeah, you are right. That part of Montgomery County must actually be within the City of Houston limits. There are 2.598 sq.mi. of Montgomery County within the City of Houston. The bar must be in that little area.

Yeah! I'd forgotten about that! I went to one of those bars once in that neck of the woods...to become a member, I had to write my info on the back of an old receipt. Same thing at some place I went to in Salt Lake City once, too.
