You’d be most likely to see someone in which of the following professions wearing an aiguillette?
A: Scuba diver B: Military officer
C: Dentist D: Football player
Les’s +1 is his trivia buddy Aleric. He’s heard of epaulets, which are worn by military officers.
50/50 leaves scuba diver and military officer. Les goes with scuba diver.
B: Military officer
Les wins $5,000.

50K: 1st of all, I'd never heard or read the term. I would have guessed "military decoration", then thrown 50/50 at it to be sure. If the term had been "aquilette" or "aguilette" scuba might have swayed me, I admit. But "aiguilette"?

The only reason I got this question was because I confused it with an epulet, which is worn on the shoulders.

The +1 emphasized "sounds like 'epaulette'". Contestant went w/ scuba anyway.

From the French, aiguille, meaning needle.
Probably don't want anything to do with a needle as a scuba diver. Maybe as a dentist. But, would have guessed that it was similar to epaulet.

The word put me in mind of an accent aigu. I think I ended up in the right place for the wrong reason. But it would count all the same. --Bob
