I was so moved by this story that I plan to adopt a dog from Providence Animal Center. It's been over a year since my Jessie passed away. I don't know if I'll end up with one of the Thai dogs; they have so many adorable pups.

I read this & thought "hey! There was no publicity about a big no-kill shelter in Providence when I adopted TuckerMonster from that "regular" shelter in Pawtucket RI". Then I find out the Providence shelter is in PA.

(All the no-kill shelters in the Boston area turned out to be "you must adopt 2 cats at a time so your cat won't be lonely, & we will pick the companion cat out for you" places.)

I guess we can all get the warm and fuzzies over the symbolism of flying 46 dogs here when there are 17,000 similar dog farms and 2,000,000 dogs still eaten in South Korea. Seems like a lot of resources used for little return, especially with no shortage of shelter pets here.

On a similar note, I'm not sure why we get all grossed out by the idea of using dogs for food but not by the idea of using cows for food. (Of course, it's different if they were raised as pets, but I assume the whole point of a dog farm is that they're being raised to be used as food.) --Bob
