Why Sprots, I never knew you were a lady Vol fan.

I saw Candace Parker play in high school against neighboring town, Galesburg. Actually, she didn't play against the Silver Streaks: she toyed with them. What an incredible talent. I hope she is also a good person.

The Lady Vols have a great coach and she obviously does a great job recruiting. A Few weeks ago ESPN did a comparison of the graduation rates of female basketball players vs the male basketball players. I forget the exact number, but if I recall correctly the females were over 80% to graduate and the male players were less the 30%. I'll have to look it up when I have more time.

They seemed to focus on the reason being males having a greater chance of going pro early even though we now have the WNBA. I'm not so sure that's true, jmho.

It is absolutely true.

The WNBA has much, much stricter restrictions than the NBA for early departures. A player must either earn a degree within three months of the draft or turn 22 in the year she is drafted. The NBA merely requires that a player be 19 during the calendar year of the draft and be one year removed from his high school graduation (for American high school players.)

I am fortunate to be the official photographer for the John R. Wooden Award and I met Candace last year. Besides being a great basketball player she is both attractive and articulate. She couldn't have been nicer last year when she won.

I certainly enjoyed the TN/LSU game Sunday. I hope the one tonight is similar. (close contest with the Vols eventually prevailing)

No, I don't follow college basketball all that closely anymore. It really is a joke when I make out a bracket as TifaniBrandi.

I'm really a fan of the dedication and commitment it takes to win back to back championships. I rooted for UCLA in the Wizard of Westwood and Bill Walton years, and I was rooting for Ace (Candace Parker) and Pat Summitt tonight. Not that Ice (Candice Wiggins) is any slouch! What a player!

I was a terrible fan, though. I got a chance to play bridge so could watch only between rounds in the next room. I'm actually glad it wasn't as exciting as last night's game. Whew!

No, not this one. Stanford's number was up. Er, down -- 48. You know what I mean.
