Looking for information on air dates

#1 Post by sunflower » Tue Apr 08, 2008 11:34 am

Don't know if anyone here can help me...a friend referred me to your site. I'm anxiously awaiting notification of my WWTBAM air date (taped in October!) and didn't know if anyone here had any helpful information or if I just have to wait for the official email? Thanks!

Welcome, sunflower, and congratulations on getting a turn in the Hot Seat!

WWTBAM doesn't release an advanced schedule of when particular episodes will air, so we can't tell you when yours might be scheduled. The best we can do is find links to the occasional newspaper article about an upcoming airing, a day or so before it happens.

Did your producer give you an estimated broadcast date? They usually have one when they tape, although they've been know the juggle the episodes around to put "better" performances in the sweeps periods.

Thanks...

My "tentative" air date was 4/17...but from what I've heard, since I didn't get an email yesterday confirming that, it seems as though I won't actually be on at all next week. So without any date to cling to I guess I just have to sit and wait to find out! Patience is not one of my strengths!!

Understandably! :)

Do you have an e-mail address for any of the staff? If so, send them a note and ask. They should be staffing up their offices again, in preparation for the upcoming season.

And can you give us a hint how to recognize you when you air? Like a home town? If it's New York City, that won't help much.

Most of my contacts at the show are obsolete, but if you have any phone numbers or e-mail addresses for anyone there, it's certainly reasonable for you to contact them and ask. They also have a publicist whose job is to get the word out to local media about any contestants in the area who will be on the show.

I hope you learn your date and have a nice viewing party with friends and family. Welcome to our group.

I'm sorry to say that you may have to wait for the show to give you your air date. The problem is that the individual episodes are not necessarily shown in the order they are taped. (They normally show carry-over contestants from one day to the next, but if someone misses a question or walks away just before the horn sounds, that provides an opportunity to reschedule a block of shows almost anywhere on the calendar. The shows with the 10 people in the green room on my taping date were stretched out over a three-month period.)

If you have the name and e-mail address of the show's publicist, you might try writing a polite note of inquiry, citing hopes for planning a viewing party, scheduling vacation time, or something similar that requires advance notification. I don't know if this ploy will be successful.

But, hurray for you for getting into the hot seat and retroactive good luck! Let us know when you do find out so we can watch and cheer for you. I'm glad you found us. Welcome!

I do have the email address of the PR person, I just didn't want to be a pest if I could find out the information elsewhere! I might have to give that a try though.

I think I'm extra frustrated because I went on 2 separate tape dates, and 8 of the 10 episodes have been on already!! Weeks ago!! And the day in between my 2 tape dates was the day they taped Couples week, and that was on in February!! :?

I'm from East Hartford, CT so I should be pretty easily recognizable!

If you did really well, they might be holding your show for sweeps week.

Ugh! And that makes it harder to figure out when you'll be on, because you can't say "I'll be three days after I see so-and-so."

Couples week was one of their big events for the February sweeps. Maybe you did so well that they're saving your episode for May sweeps?

I know you're not allowed to say anything about that, but we'll wish that it's true! :)

Thank you all for the encouragement and help! I will definitely let you know when I find out...be easy on me when commenting on the transcript once it's on!!

I just keep cursing the guy who taped before me, if he didn't make a guess and blow the question, he would have carried over and then I would have been on already!! (I can say that about him, since his show has already aired)

So the blessing that I thought I had in starting my own episode, turns out to be a curse!! Well except for getting to walk out with Meredith, that was fun!

Spoiler
If she started out a show and carried over to the next show, that's very good news indeed!

She didn't say that, Bob, she says she went (to the studio) on two different days. And the contestant before her ended an episode--and the day? Then I presume she returned to start the next day of taping after the Wedding week tapings.

That's not the way I read it - obviously.

You're right, I didn't say that!! You'll have to tune in to find out how many episodes I was on, and what, if anything, I won!!

I went on two different days because we had so many carry overs from the prior day (not carry over in the sense of starting taping and not finishing, but just didn't even make it to taping on their assigned day). Slow going or something. So only a couple of my day's group got on, a bunch of us were held over until the next week. I started episode # 4 of the day that turned out to be my taping day. Episodes 1 - 3 of that day have already aired.
