Apparently Flynn's seconding his son's belief that Hilary Clinton was running a prostitution ring out of a pizza parlor was not enough to prevent him getting the post.
But his own lies apparently have gotten him out.

As someone put it, Flynn resigned for lying exactly two weeks after Sally Yates was fired for telling the truth. --Bob

24 days into an administration. Is that a record?
I don't know what the overseas bookies' odds were on Flynn being the first person in the Drumpf Crime Family to resign, but somebody just won a lot of money.
Somewhere in New York, Alec Baldwin is saying, "See you Saturday night! I have all the material I need!"

Flynn was a dead man walking when he was offered the job. And beating up on his old buds, the spooks just made it worse. I think Bannon saw him as a liability.
Next up, D.C.'s version of Bagdad Bob, Ms. Conway. I wonder if Flynn felt like Eagleton yesterday afternoon.

And another one bites the dust...
Andrew Puzder, withdraws his nomination as Secretary of Labor Exploitation one day before his Senate hearings were supposed to start.

I hope the third to go is David Friedman, nominee for Ambassador to Israel. His views are more extreme than most of the Israeli right wing.

Just a reminder-President Clinton had 2 proposed Attorney Generals go down (poor choice of words with Clinton) for the same reasons Puzder did. Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood-"Nannygate."silverscreenselect wrote:And another one bites the dust...

Instead of another selfish anti-Christian bastard to replace Puzder, I wonder if Pompous Pilate will nominate somebody who is pro-America for once. (Yes, I know that's a rhetorical question. The chances of this festering bucket of oozing anal fistulas picking somebody with simple human decency are about as likely as the chances of Confessor winning the Miss America pageant.)silverscreenselect wrote:And another one bites the dust...

The fact that getting Cabinet nominees confirmed when your party has a majority in the Senate (which used to be pretty much a slam dunk for either party) is considered a "win" for the Trump Administration is an indication of just how bad things have gotten for them in less than one month.Spock wrote:Another win for the Trump Administration-Pruitt confirmed with 2 Democrat voting for-Manchin and Heitkamp.Bob78164 wrote:Susan Collins has come out against Scott Pruitt and John McCain has announced against Rick Mulvaney. --Bob

Not that I know of. Just multiple sources cited by the Washington Post. I trust that the Post wouldn't have run the story unless its reporters either saw the transcript or got corroboration from sources who have been truthful in the past. And the apparent acceptance by Donny's Administration that Flynn's public denials that he had discussed sanctions were false.BackInTex wrote:Has a transcript been released showing he discussed the sanctions? Unless charges are filed, I doubt we'll ever see a transcript. And with Jeff Sessions running the "Justice" Department, I'm highly skeptical that charges will be filed. --Bob

It's clearly true that Flynn had the conversations. How can you not agree that this should be the subject of an investigation? Particularly since Donny knew about Flynn's lies for two weeks (when Sally Flynn reported them to him) and did absolutely nothing until the issue went public. That tells us he's willing to cover up, or at least turn a blind eye to, facts that made his National Security Advisor subject to blackmail by a foreign government. --Bob

Obstruction is not the same thing as making known your reasons for disagreeing with a particular nominee or piece of legislation.
