Does This Sound Familiar?

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Thu Jan 19, 2017 8:25 am

Dan McQueen, who has been mayor of Corpus Christi, TX, resigned after 37 days in office. Among the highlights of his tenure:

--He ran on an anti-incumbent, anti-establishment platform.

--He criticized the intelligence of city council members, saying he was qualified because of his superior education.

--He handled his first crisis in office very poorly, a chemical leak that contaminated the city's water supply.

--He clashed repeatedly with the press, calling them "bad, destructive" media. He also accused the press and his "inadequate" city staff of inhibiting his efforts to create a safe downtown. Most of these comments were made on Facebook, as was his resignation notice.

--He was accused of being heavy handed and disrespectful of the City Council in their efforts to keep the public informed about the water problems.

--I won't mention his political party, but you can guess.

Yeah, kind of does.

Let's see, Trump keep calling people stupid and won't release his college transcripts nor his tax returns; could it be him?

The parallels between Obama and Trump are many. Both are seriously flawed and should never have been elected (nominated as their party's candidate), IMO. Both are indicators of the stupidity, gullibility, and general ignorance of a large portion of the electorate on both sides of the political spectrum.

After seeing him in action for nearly eight years, a pretty healthy majority of the American people disagree with your assessment of President Obama. --Bob

I consider 63% a pretty healthy majority. Unless you're talking specifically about President Obama's job approval rating. In which case the numbers are only something between 56% and 60%. --Bob

His approval or job approval rating is not what the above is discussing. There is no poll asking folks today, "If you could go back to the 2008 election year primary, who would you vote for?" Also, the "pretty healthy majority" you speak of includes a large portion of "stupid, gullible, and ignorant" people, so their inclusion of the approval ratings should be excluded when referencing my comment.

Judge them as you will, a healthy majority of the American people disagree with your assessment of President Obama's eight years in office. I get that you disagree with that majority and that you think a good fraction of those people are "stupid, gullible, and ignorant."

But that doesn't mean I made anything up. Kindly acknowledge that your statement I did so was incorrect. --Bob
