The Boney 500: Songs 20 and 19

Moving into the Top 20!

20. HEY JUDE-THE BEATLES (1968)
single (available on several compilation albums)

Starts off in an understated manner, but eventually it sounds like everyone in the world has joined in (except me..my invitation
must've gotten lost in the mail). McCartney's vocal is superior here, from the heartfelt opening minutes to the "rip the vocal
cords apart" ad libbing that follows. For awhile I undervalued this one, but have in recent years regained my appreciation of it.
And that lonnnnnng fadeout. Although I know better, a part of me half believes that somewhere, somehow, The Beatles are STILL singing
those "nahhhh, na, na, na-na na, nahhhh's"..........

19. THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT-BILLY PRESTON (1969)
Album: That's The Way God Planned It

Preston's vocal is so heartfelt on this Gospel styled number that he could almost make an atheist head straight to a house of worship.
Very powerful.

Isn't that Carole King's job? --Bob

Kind of cool how these two songs go together musically. A little.

Top 20! Awesome!

One of my friends wore out Hey Jude -- she thought it spoke directly to her. I guess it did.

I heard Paul perform last year. I recorded "Hey Jude" (well part of it) on my iPhone so my grandson Jude can enjoy it when he's old enough.
