30. I'LL FEEL A WHOLE LOT BETTER-THE BYRDS (1965)
Album: Mr. Tambourine Man
There's a modern day term for this: Jangle Pop. But it pretty much started with The Byrds, inspired by The Beatles, specifically
John Lennon's Rickenbacker guitar. The story goes that they went to see "A Hard Days' Night" (coincidentally, today's album selection), and were moved to marry that "jangly"
guitar sound to folk music, and a new genre was born. This is a flawless pop song, with an insanely catchy melody, perfect harmonies,
and yes, those "jangly" guitars.
29. ROSE OF CIMARRON-POCO (1976)
Album: Rose Of Cimarron
There was a 1952 Western movie with this title. Obviously this song doesn't come from it, but it sure sounds like it could have.
The pretty but weary sounding melody conjures up images of cowpokes ridin' off into the sunset. The harmonies build in texture
throughout most of the song and are quite nice.
