I've heard a lot of interviews w/ her & radio show performances by her & wish I had got to hear her in person. She underwent extraordinary treatment for cancer; she endured a lot. The only blessing out of this for her was that her voice came back strong as ever after all the surgeries; some involved her diaphragm, so they weren't sure she'd even be able to sing again. That, & the extra time on earth she got out of the ordeal.
I heard her interviewed, I believe on Fresh Air, even after the cancer came back, & she remained upbeat & positive. A fine singer with great strength of character.
