RIP Robert Vaughn

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Fri Nov 11, 2016 2:28 pm

The Grim Reaper has succeeded where THRUSH failed...The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is gone.

Star of one of my favorite shows as a youngster.

And co-star of one of the worst, in my opinion, movies of all time ("Superman III"). Boy that was a steaming pile of donkey doo.

That was also one of my favorite shows. At least we still get to see Illya Kuryakin on T.V.

Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

I loved him in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

He also played a controversial, slightly unhinged President in the mini-series Washington: Behind Closed Doors.

He was the only actor to portray both a Columbo murderer ("Troubled Waters") and a victim ("Last Salute To the Commodore") in the original 70's series. Shera Denise has that same distinction in the 90's revival....

And a real President (Woodrow Wilson) in Backstairs at the White House.

And some obtuse trivia about U.N.C.L.E. Some of us have been to the HQ - or rather, the sound stage where the HQ was. It was where the Jeopardy! set is now.

And also the last surviving member of the original Magnificent Seven.

In recent years, he did a series of commercials for various ambulance chasing lawyers. He would look stern and say to the camera, "Tell them you mean business." That would be followed by the phone number of the particular lawyer (different lawyers in different parts of the country).

About 90% of the girls in my class had a crush on either Ilya or Napoleon. I can't remember now which one I favored. I'll say it was Ilya just because he's now Ducky.
