Yikes! Redstone Arsenal story sounds like a ..

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Tue Aug 02, 2016 9:00 am

... made for TV movie in the works. Or at least an episode of NCIS (except it's an Army base, not a Navy one).

There was a report of a dead body found at Redstone Arsenal over the weekend, but not much more detail than that.

Today's news reports that it's Major General John Rossi, a two-star general who was supposed to take over the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, effective today. (One media report says that when he assumed that position, he would get another star.)

He was found dead in his home, but no reports as to cause of death yet.

You might want to wait for that info before completing your movie script.

"55-year-old man dies at at home from natural causes" (for example) wouldn't make much of a plot.

I hope to God that is what happened. It's too easy to think the worst of people otherwise.

Unless, like in Scalia's case, "natural causes" is determined via a phone interview with the marshal and no autopsy is performed. You could do a pretty good movie about that.

As a followup, still no (official) cause of death.

Chris Colster, a public affairs officer for the U.S. Army Garrison at Redstone Arsenal, told AL.com on Monday that a cause of death had not yet been released.

"We're still waiting on the investigation to work itself out," Colster said.

Sadly, that seems to be the gist of too many of the commenters. I don't think most of them are joking.

Bringing this thread up because the Army has a cause of death:

Spoiler
The Army has ruled it a suicide.

Was one of the commenters Littlest Spock (Age 14)? I am expecting a call from school any day.

I think he has fallen pretty far into the anti-Hillary rabbit hole. He will be the crazy uncle at the Thanksgiving table.

Oh well, at least he is not surfing porn.

Nice shot at me. You may choose not to believe me-but I simply do not talk about that conspiracy type stuff in real life.

Plus the whole concept that I may have slightly exaggerated about Littlest Spock seems to have gone right over your head.

I would have simply responded "You're a good student Grasshopper."
