We went and watched Deepwater Horizon tonight. I have to say it was one of the most stressful movies I've watched in a long time. I'm still tense an hour later. Go see it while its on the big screen.
I listened to an interview with the director Peter Berg last week on a local talk show. It was interesting the reason he decided to tell the story and some of the hurdles they had to jump to get it made. Essentially he wanted to tell the crew's story because they took a lot of public blame, and lost 11 lives, none of whom were in the least responsible for the disaster. Also, they couldn't find anyone to let them use a real rig to film on so they built their own, employing over 300 local Louisiana welders to get it built.

Since that movie, Berg and Mark Wahlberg have made Patiriot's Day, out early next year, about the Boston Marathon bombers (Wahlberg plays a cop).BackInTex wrote:We went and watched Deepwater Horizon tonight. In the interview Berg was asked about the draw of Wahlberg to help him tell his stories. Berg said Wahlberg was the "everyman", grew up poor and troubled but got out and became successful.
