The Boney 500: Songs 126 and 125

126. NEW KID IN TOWN-THE EAGLES (1976)
Album: Hotel California

Nothing flashy here but every note is in place and perfectly textured. The harmonies are outstanding. Just a song
I love listening to.

125. GOOD VIBRATIONS-THE BEACH BOYS (1966)
Album: Smiley Smile

A pop symphony in 3 and a half minutes. So much has been written about this benchmark recording that I couldn't
possibly add anything new or insightful. Suffice it to say that whenever I hear it, I still marvel at the astounding
craftmanship of this record. It still amazes 50 years later.

I'll never do a compilation like this, but if I did, Good Vibrations might make #1.

I like both of these songs.

During my stereo shopping days, Good Vibrations was always a good test song. I find most Beach Boys songs to rather low fidelity (yes, even Pets Sounds), so this one will always stand out.

New Kid in Town just hums along, like it has for nearly 40 years.

I bet you do.

It does have one major asset -- no mangy rodents . . .
