73. MARSHALL CRENSHAW-MARSHALL CRENSHAW (1982)

Crenshaw blasted out of the gate with his near perfect debut album, a collection combining Beatle and especially early rock
n'roll influences (HEAVY Buddy Holly influence!). He's made some good music since then, right up to the present day, but he probably set the bar too high
for himself to match again. This captures the exhilaration and freshness of those early rock days. The last two songs on this
particular post are not actually on the album, but they are both excellent tunes that the uploader has apparently added as
bonuses. It's all good, giving you an even dozen of musical goodness!

Country musicians used to joke about the "10 songs rule" because copyright rules used to (& may still) dictate increased payments for all songs if the # on album exceeded 10.

Rockers weren't held down to 10, though rule still applied(applies). Maybe more of them wrote their own songs "back in the day".

Also, back in the day, they were more careful about squeezing too much per album side, as fidelity was lost once you went over a certain number of minutes. I don't think Crenshaw was in any danger of exceeding the limit, though.
