Comprised of only 3 songs, but each is a progressive rock masterpiece. Jon Anderson's vocals soar and Rick Wakeman's booming
passage on the pipe organ during the "I Get Up I Get Down" section of the title track and the wild vocals near the end of
"Siberian Khatru" are among the highlights. It marked the last album featuring the "classic" Yes lineup, as drummer Bill
Bruford left to join King Crimson after this album.

I was listening to this after I posted it, and to be honest, I am already having a disagreement with myself over where I placed it, but as I've noted before, the rankings reflected what I was feeling at that particular time. I promised myself I would not change them, knowing full well that depending on my mood at any given time, there would be differences, some possibly quite significant, pretty much every time..

I have had many such thoughts on both songs and albums. I have only been commenting on my connections to albums and songs and ignoring their rankings (for now). I want to get to the end and then compare notes on rankings in totality.

Regarding the "Close to the Edge" album, when Chris Squire (bassist) died, I wrote (slightly edited):

I saw them in many, many incarnations over the years.

One favorite was a version, after many variations, that included Jon on vocals, both Bill Bruford and Alan White on drums and both Pat Moraz and Rick Wakeman on keyboards.

My favorite set list was when the (mostly) classic lineup played at the Hollywood Bowl and basically played just "The Yes Album," "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge," with album-length versions of all songs.

The only constant through every incarnation was Chris Squire. RIP Fish.
