Today's two tunes..
186. GO YOUR OWN WAY-FLEETWOOD MAC (1977)
Album: Rumours
Another tune that I didn't fully appreciate for years. I mean, I always liked it, sure, but I never thought of it as an
all-time favorite. Then one day I was listening to it and for the first time really HEARD it. I realized just how well
crafted a pop song it was, and how perfect those harmonies were (I started singing along with them, switching back and
forth between several of the parts). That happens with me sometimes, it's like a musical lightbulb going off over my head.
And Lindsey Buckingham's skills are underrated..he does some good work on guitar, and gets especially nice sounds from his
acoustic guitar work.

185. I CHEAT THE HANGMAN-THE DOOBIE BROTHERS (1975)
Album: Stampede
Not the sort of song you normally think of when you think of the Doobies...this one, to be honest, is pretty bizarre. It
begins with hypnotic guitars and a quiet vocal, adds a ton of layered vocals in the midsection, then finishes with a wild
final section full of psychotic strings, horns and voices. In all, it has the feel of a spaghetti western soundtrack on acid.
If that description didn't scare you off, go ahead and listen, although no doubt this is best appreciated with headphones.

I didn't wear Rumours out -- some neighborhood kid stole it out of my car. They left Glass Houses, I did wear that out.
You convinced me, I'm skipping I Cheat the Hangman.

Rumours is a definitive 70s album, but it doesn't sound dated. it is still infrequent rotation on my devices.
