Most Popular TV Shows Set in Each State
There's an interesting article on IMDB listing the most popular TV shows set in each of the 50 states plus DC. Before looking it up, you might want to try writing down your choices and see how they stack up against the IMDB selections. Some of them are very obvious, some seem quite arbitrary (California and Illinois in particular), and a couple are very obscure (I've never heard of the one set in Montana).
A helpful hint. These selections are based on the people who vote on IMDB and they tend to be younger and favor more recent shows over vintage shows. They include cable and digital shows along with traditional network TV series.

They used the remake of Hawaii Five-O instead of the original, which invalidates the list right there. I agree with some of them and will accept a few others, but the judges will not accept omitting Cheers for Massachusetts and The Mary Tyler Moore Show for Minnesota. Nor will they accept Glee over WKRP In Cincinnati for Ohio or Grey's Anatomy over Frasier for Washington.

Virginia is and will always be The Waltons. And how can Maine not be Murder, She Wrote?

This is why you can't conduct internet voting for anything of major importance... too much influence from people who probably aren't even old enough to cast a real vote for anything. At least this one isn't for Mecca Radio's Monday "Artist of the Week" that has forced us to listen to a recent hip hop or R&B singer almost every single week since it started...

At least Massachusetts didn't get stuck with Ally McBeal.

I'm surprised Iowa didn't get Star Trek (TOS).

North Carolina has to be "The Andy Griffith Show". When i first moved here in 1989 it still was shown often on the local stations. I bet it is still on somewhere in this state.

WRAL in Raleigh still shows it on a regular basis on their alternate over the air channel.ShamelessWeasel wrote:North Carolina has to be "The Andy Griffith Show". When i first moved here in 1989 it still was shown often on the local stations. I bet it is still on somewhere in this state.

Ahhhh ... but I wonder what state The Simpsons would fall under. Have they ever said what state it was supposed to be in?

Inspired by Springfield, Oregon, but actual setting is "any state but your own."UbaybPerry wrote:Ahhhh ... but I wonder what state The Simpsons would fall under. Have they ever said what state it was supposed to be in?
