The Boney 500: Album #128

128. PYRAMID-ALAN PARSONS PROJECT (1978)

This is best listened to with headphones. Not surprising, since Parsons was an engineer on both The Beatles'
"Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", two of the best SOUNDING albums ever. The music here is
richly textured and crafted so well that you just want to hang a "do not disturb" sign on your door and get lost
in his aural paintings.

This is, indeed, an incredibly well-engineered album. "In the Lap of the Gods" has what seems like twenty layers of music and harmonies. A heavy fave in my stoner years, this one is still great at 40.

Having also worked on Dark Side of the Moon and Abbey Road, he was good for that sort of "listening experience".
