These are a few more of my favorite things.....
341. SIMPLE SISTER-PROCOL HARUM (1971)
Album: Broken Barricades
One of rock's most underrated bands, I often forget how much I like them
until I look at their discography. This somewhat sinister sounding tune
features a cool guitar (Guitarist Robin Trower left after this album)
and piano line and a slowly building, hypnotic middle section.
340. WALKING IN MEMPHIS-MARC COHN (1991)
Album: Marc Cohn
Most people either hate this song or love it. Obviously you know now
which camp I stand in. Love the lyrics (it's autobiographical..the
Reverend Green mentioned is Al Green https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walking_in_Memphis)
and the gospel flavoring of the music.
339. VALERIE-STEVE WINWOOD (1982..remixed hit version 1987)
Album: Talking Back To The Night (original version)
It wasn't a hit in its original incarnation, but Winwood hit paydirt with
a remixed version 5 years later. I prefer the original, but either way it's a
great 80's pop tune, and I love the line "So cool, she was like jazz on a summer's
day". Winwood has certainly issued more creative and challenging music over
his long career, but little of it matches the simple good vibes this one elicits.

I had never heard Simple Sister before, but I like it. I hope Conquistador by Procol Harum is still to come.
And I'm with you on Walking In Memphis.

Walking in Memphis gets a lot of airplay from RadioDude for a song more than two decades old; must be a favorite of his too. I had no idea it was 1991. It's like other songs that seem timeless to me -- Needles and Pins, for example. It still gets some local airplay, but that's probably one of the later versions.
