Henry Heimlich, who is now 96 (I was surprised to learn he was still alive) and a resident in a retirement home, used his maneuver to save an 87-year-old fellow resident who was choking on a piece of hamburger. The woman was seated next to Heimlich at the dining room table, and he was able to dislodge the food before any of the staff could arrive. The woman is apparently fully recovered. It's believed to be the first time Heimlich has actually personally used his maneuver to rescue someone.

Re: Dr. Heimlich Finally Uses His Maneuver
It's good to know that when it finally came time to practice what he preached, Dr. Heimlich didn't choke. --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote:Henry Heimlich, who is now 96 (I was surprised to learn he was still alive) and a resident in a retirement home, used his maneuver to save an 87-year-old fellow resident who was choking on a piece of hamburger.
