ABC Summer Game Show Premieres Scheduled

#1 Post by Brit Canuck » Wed Apr 27, 2016 8:07 pm

500 Questions (S2)
A two-hour premiere block on Thursday May 26th has been scheduled for the return of the Alphabet Network's geniuses-only quizzer hit from last summer. Hopefully with the new shorter time limits on some questions and a new host who doesn't waffle on quite as much (sorry Richard), they'll have time to actually reach 500 questions during this run (only around 420 were asked over seven episodes last time).

To Tell The Truth
The newest version of the classic panel game is set for a staggered two-episode premiere on Tuesday June 14th, sandwiching the (somewhat unpromising) reboot of 'Uncle Buck'.

Battlebots (S2)
The sucessfully rebooted fighting-robot reality game show returns Thursday June 23rd with a two-hour mishmash of mechanical mayhem. No word on whether we get robot duplicates of Trump and Clinton/Sanders duking it out - that would be great for the ratings.

Celebrity Family Feud (S2) & The $100,000 Pyramid
The newest reboot of the Dick Clark classic launches Sunday June 26th at 9pm, after Steve Harvey finishes doing what he does best nowadays - mixing up celebrities two at a time.

Too bad "Celebrity Death Match" isn't on anymore. They would have a field day with all the knuckleheads running for office this year. It would be YUGE!!!! (sorry, sorry).

CBS will not let ABC have all the fun:

From hiddenremote.com

This May, The Price Is Right returns to CBS’ primetime line-up with a string of shows featuring the stars of CBS’ hit reality series Big Brother, Survivor and The Amazing Race. Each new episode will pair an all-star from one of CBS’ three reality series with a lucky super-fan to compete for incredible prizes.

The three-night event will begin Monday, May 23 as Survivor host Jeff Probst joins former castaways Natalie Anderson (Season 29 winner), Joe Anglim (Seasons 30 and 31), Rupert Boneham (Seasons 7, 8, 20 and 27), Jeremy Collins (Seasons 29 castaway and Season 31 winner), Cirie Fields (Seasons 12, 16 and 20), Woo Hwang (Seasons 28 and 31), Rob Mariano (Seasons 4, 8, 20 castaway and Season 22 winner), Kelley Wentworth (Seasons 29 and 31) and Tina Wesson (Season 2 winner and Season 8 and 27 castaway) on a special Survivor edition.

Since when has TPIR been a team game?

And do they mean super-fans of TPIR or, as I suspect, of those other shows?

ABC revealed earlier this week that Ken Jennings will appear on '500 Questions' starting on the May 26th season premiere.

I want to say that if anyone can win the top prize on '500 Questions', it's Jennings, but others said that about his appearances on 'Fifth Grader' (walked with $500K) and SyndieBAM (walked with $100K), too.

Plus the second season's only five episodes now, and based on the photo at the site below the format's already getting an unneeded tinkering (Ken only has to answer 30 questions to complete one round), so I'll tune in just to watch the 'Nightline' guy squirm.
