He and his brother were very prolific songwriters. The end of a musical era.

AnnoyingParkAttraction will certainly be in mourning....

I'm sure they'll play "It's a Small World After All" on a constant loop at the funeral too....

For a moment I thought this might have been Bobby Sherman - which given another recent passing would have me thinking that David Cassidy would have to watch his back.

Could also have been a different RObert Sherman, the son of Allan(Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah)Sherman. ALlan was a producer/writer for Goodson-Todman on I've Got a Secret when he died in the 60s. Robert worked for Goodson as a producer on Match Game 70s-90s, Tattletales, Password PLus, SUper Password, and Blockbusters.

The Sherman brothers also wrote Feed the Birds for the Mary Poppins soundtrack. When Walt Disney would simply say "play it," he meant that song.
It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all...

So many classic songs they wrote. I must admit I share Unca Walt's fondness for "Feed The Birds" in particular. Such a beautiful haunting melody. To my ears it could have easily have fit in as part of a symphony.

I just watched Saving Mr. Banks. Robert and Richard Sherman were major characters, ably played by B.J. Novak and Jason Schwartzman. The real Richard Sherman also had a big part in producing the movie, as shown in the bonus features on the DVD.

Tonight is Disney Night on DWTS. Tom Bergeron acknowledged Richard Sherman in the audience.

(With three NFL players on DWTS this season, maybe the other Richard Sherman will show up too!)

The Shermans wrote a fair number of songs for non-Disney movies along the way. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Hanna Barbera theatrical version of Charlotte's Web, and Snoopy Come Home (with the haunting "Lila's Theme") come to mind.
