Breaking news.

Passed away on his 79th birthday.

That's a fellow who, if I was forced to guess, had already left us. Younger than I thought.

He was still very busy. He had 7 shows scheduled in the next two weeks.

He should have taken it a bit easier.

Rest in peace, Okie.

Just his way of avoiding coming to my town for the concert scheduled in May. There will be a lot of disappointed fans
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

When Elvis died, he had a concert scheduled two months later for Atlanta's Omni. Even though they offered everyone refunds, approximately half the people kept their tickets as souvenirs.

Sadly, that usually doesn't work so well anymore, since most tickets are electronic/PDF versions. Who had a "real" ticket anymore?

Sorry to hear that. It's amazing that he was still touring.

I couldn't stand Okie from Muskogee, but Mama Tried and Sing Me Back Home are great songs.
