Lyrically Speaking 4/6/16
This one oughta be fun. Each of these was either the theme song or was performed during a memorable scene from a comedy movie that came out between 1967 and 1984 (inclusive, for you nitpickers). For each song there are four possible points: one for the title, one for the artist, one for the name of the movie and one if you can quote a line from the movie. For songs performed within the movie I will accept the names of the actors or characters who performed it or someone who recorded it in real life for the artist point.
There are only seven songs today because I could not come up with another recognizable song from a quotable comedy, and I really wanted to use this theme.
1. You wanna listen to the man
Pay attention to the magistrate
And while I got you in the mood
Listen to your
Own heart beatin'
Own heart beatin'
2. Come let's mix, where Rockefellers walk with sticks
And umbrellas in their mitts
3. We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself.
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes,
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home.
4. Livin' his life one day at a time
He's showing himself a really good time
He's laughin' about the way
They want him to be
5. If there's something weird
And it don't look good
6. Now waaait a minute
I feel all right (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Ooh)
Now that I got my woman
I feel all right (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
7. Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

I'm Alright - Kenny Loggins - Caddyshack - "Be the ball" (That's lame, but it's all I can come up with. BTW, the song Kenny wrote for Caddyshack II was much better than this one...)
2. Come let's mix, where Rockefellers walk with sticks
And umbrellas in their mitts
Puttin' On The Ritz - Taco - Rocky Horror Picture Show - "Let's do the time warp again!" (I hope that counts as a line... you're 0 for 2 on movies I've seen so far, not that I'd be surprised if I don't go 0 for 7...)
3. We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself.
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes,
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home.
Mrs. Robinson - Simon & Garfunkel - The Graduate - "Are you trying to seduce me?" (0 for 3, BTW...)
4. Livin' his life one day at a time
He's showing himself a really good time
He's laughin' about the way
They want him to be
The golden sombrero!
5. If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Ghostbusters - Ray Parker, Jr. - Ghostbusters - "Don't cross the streams!!!!" (.200! And to continue a theme, the song Bobby Brown did for Ghostbusters II is much better...)
6. Now waaait a minute
I feel all right (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Ooh)
Now that I got my woman
I feel all right (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Shout - Otis Day - Animal House - "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" (1 for 6, but several of the stadiums I've been to used to play that speech when the home team was down in the 9th inning...)
7. Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Sounds like it's being sung by a man wearing assless chaps. Did you accidentally put a gay western in this game?

I think Lizbit and I will do better today than yesterday. That won't take much.elwoodblues wrote:This one oughta be fun. We know this song -- Puttin' on the Ritz -- at least four ways, but the one that seems to fit the question best is from Young Frankenstein, sung by Mr. Peter Boyle and Mr. Gene Wilder (as Mr. Monster and Mr. Dr. Frankenstein.) Movie quote: "That's FRONK-en-steen."2. Come let's mix, where Rockefellers walk with sticks
And umbrellas in their mitts
The other ones we know are as sung by Mr. Fred Astaire in top hat and tails in a movie called "Blue Skies," or something like that; Mr. Taco, in a clunky music video with a white suit; and our mom, who wrote a parody of the song for a show she was in. Her version was about how that Russian guy could run for president of the U.S., and it was called Putin on the Ritz. She still has her top hat and tail coat, which she bought from a Steampunk store on-line. She made us listen to her sing it at least 400,000 times, but it was never in a movie, so far as we know.
Something, something, something5. If there's something weird
And it don't look good
In the neighborhood.
Ghostbusters. The movie name is all I've got. I don't know who those people are, or what any of them said, if anything at all.
This is the Theme from Rawhide, which I think was an old-timey television show. It was sung by Mr. Elwood Blues and his brother in The Blues Brothers movie. Is that you, Mr. elwood? If so, you are very handsome with a nice voice! We like that song because of the line, "Keep them doggies rollin', Rawhide." I think he meant "dogies," like little calves without moms in the herd, but we always hear it as doggies, and we smile. Lizbit thinks it will make it a good campfire song to sing at her rodeo camp.7. Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Lizbit and I have started to watch movies every now and then, when my mom isn't home, ever since my sister figured out how to get them with the Fire Stick thingie on the tv. Sometimes we get a different movie than we expect, but that's okay. It's hard to punch the right buttons on the controller with our toenails.
My picture shows one way to keep a dogie rollin'. I hope nobody thought they scooped them up in balls and pushed the calves across the prairie.

Hey, what about this classic?
Pineapple peach
Coconut and banana
Some other eats
Chocolate too
I'm telling you that when we kiss
He gives me ____________ (and we like tutti-frutti best)
It's got a good beat and you can dance to it:

Spoiler
I'm Alright-Kenny Loggins/Caddyshack/"It's in the hole!"
2. Come let's mix, where Rockefellers walk with sticks
And umbrellas in their mitts
Puttin' On The Ritz-Dr. Frankenstein and the Monster/Young Frankenstein/"It's pronounced EYE-gor"
3. We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself.
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes,
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home.

4. Livin' his life one day at a time
He's showing himself a really good time
He's laughin' about the way
They want him to be
Arthur's Theme-Christopher Cross/Arthur/"I'm going to take a bath".."I'll alert the media"
5. If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr./Ghostbusters/"HUMAN SACRIFICE, DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER"
6. Now waaait a minute
