Well, I'm glad I don't have to worry about presidential politics any more. This clinches it for me. I'll even volunteer to help John the Walmart greeter move into his new house in DC.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I never thought of myself as a curmudgeon, but I must be since I have never heard of this show.nitrah55 wrote:This may make me sound like even more of a curmudgeon than usual, but I have only begun hearing about this series, The Hills.
I read the Wikipedia write-up, and have only one question:
Why?
Also, why is it news that this young woman is going to vote for McCain? Why is that funny and worthy being discussed? In the article I read, she didn't say anything outside of what I would think anybody would say when discussing who they will vote for, and I'm sure that there are plenty of celebrities (A through C list and beyond) that have told us who they are voting for. I just don't see the relevance in this one person.

It's the type of thing the media just loves to talk about.starfish1113 wrote:I never thought of myself as a curmudgeon, but I must be since I have never heard of this show.nitrah55 wrote:This may make me sound like even more of a curmudgeon than usual, but I have only begun hearing about this series, The Hills.

I went to McCain's site to see if he had listed this important endorsement, but couldn't find the category "Reality Show Whores." (They are whores because they are paid to appear, if they worked for free, they would be Reality Show Sluts.)
The closest thing that I could find was a list of celebrity endorsers:
ENTERTAINER/ATHLETES
Curt Schilling, Pitcher, Boston Redsox
Sylvester Stallone

PENSACOLA, FL. Asked for a reaction to the news that he'd been endorsed by reality-soap bad girl Heidi Montag of "The Hills," John McCain told Swampland: "I’m honored to have Heidi’s support and I want to assure her that I never miss an episode of 'The Hills,' especially since the new season started."

And I can't believe that he does not have Secret Service protection. I would like this election determined by ballot not bullet. He has never requested SS protection and does not have any. He does have private security that travels with him.I can't believe that he watches "The Hills."

Maybe it's better that he hasn't hired government employees to follow him around. It's saving the public money and I respect him more for doing it.ne1410s wrote:And I can't believe that he does not have Secret Service protection. McCain Loses Heidi's Vote -- For Now
Republican strategists will be scrambling to cover for a new setback in John McCain's campaign – turns out that Heidi Montag can't vote.
No, not because she can't read the ballot: She's not registered! Radar checked out the registration records in Colorado and L.A. County, but no one called "Heidi Montag" exists in the voter database. Her rep didn't know whether H-Mo was registered.
McCain could use her help in Colorado: He lost his primary there.
