Lyrcially Speaking - 2/25/16

#1 Post by Charlie Brown's Teacher » Thu Feb 25, 2016 2:33 am

Wah wah wahwah wah wah waaah wah wah wah. Wah wah, wah wahwahwahwah WAH wahhh wah... wah wah wah wah wahwah wah waaah wah wahh? Wah wah wah wahh wah wahh wahhhhhhh...

1. So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone

2. Hear me now and understand
He's gonna find me some piece of mind
And if that piece of mind won't stay
I'm gonna find myself a better way

3. Though his mind is not for rent
Don`t put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day`s events

4. When lights go down, I see no reason
For you to cry. We've been through this before
In every time, in every season,
God knows I've tried
So please don't ask for more.

5. When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom, and your mind is moving low

6. You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

7. Welcome to the beat of the city street,
walk on now and don't be shy.
Take a closer look at the people you meet,
and notice the fear in their eyes,
watching the time passing by.

8. Tonight's the night we'll make history. Honey you and I.
And I'll take any risk to tie back the hands of time,
And stay with you here toinght

9. I'm gonna buy her pretty presents
Just like the ones in a catalog
Gonna show (gonna show) how much I love
Let 'er know (let 'er know) one way or the other

10. Gonna let the world pass by me
The Archbishop gonna sanctify me
And if he don't come across
I'm gonna let it roll

11. See myself in the pouring home
See the light come over now
See myself in the pouring rain
I watch hope come over me

12. Well, he brought that camel to a screechin' halt
In the rear of Fatima's tent
Jumped off Clyde, snuck around the corner
And into the tent he went.

1. So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
And I said, what about
Breakfast at Tiffany's
And she said I think
I remember the film

Breakfast at Tiffany's. Dunno artist.

2. Hear me now and understand
He's gonna find me some piece of mind
And if that piece of mind won't stay
I'm gonna find myself a better way

3. Though his mind is not for rent
Don`t put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day`s events

I'm doomed. You need more than one song to get a theme.

4. When lights go down, I see no reason
For you to cry. We've been through this before
In every time, in every season,
God knows I've tried
So please don't ask for more.

5. When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom, and your mind is moving low

White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane

6. You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

7. Welcome to the beat of the city street,
walk on now and don't be shy.
Take a closer look at the people you meet,
and notice the fear in their eyes,
watching the time passing by.

8. Tonight's the night we'll make history. Honey you and I.
And I'll take any risk to tie back the hands of time,
And stay with you here toinght

9. I'm gonna buy her pretty presents
Just like the ones in a catalog
Gonna show (gonna show) how much I love
Let 'er know (let 'er know) one way or the other

10. Gonna let the world pass by me
The Archbishop gonna sanctify me
And if he don't come across
I'm gonna let it roll

11. See myself in the pouring home
See the light come over now
See myself in the pouring rain
I watch hope come over me

12. Well, he brought that camel to a screechin' halt
In the rear of Fatima's tent
Jumped off Clyde, snuck around the corner
And into the tent he went.
We're talking about
Ahab the Arab, Sheik of the burning desert
Ahab the Arab, Sheik of the burning sand.

These are not songs that Lizbit or I ever learned in school. My sister says she does know the last one, though.
12. Well, he brought that camel to a screechin' halt

Lizbit says it's Ahab the Arab. We don't know the artiste.

Charlie Brown is in grade school, right? How many subjects could there be? It's not going to be algebra or art history. We decided that maybe Charlie goes to one of those progressive schools where they start teaching sex education in the early grades. That would make sense, because lots and lots of songs are about boy stuff and girl stuff and sex..

JJC Points:

vandal gets a JJC point for recycling his Princess Bride pregnancy test kit. I think the only reason it strikes me as funny (as one of those heathens who's never seen the movie) is the fact that someone I worked with for 15 years bore a strong resemblance to the "Inconceivable" guy, and ever since that was pointed out by another co-worker, I've always chuckled every time I've seen that guy's face...

BiT gets 3 JJC points for reading the articles...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for the Jared/LOTR crossover...

frank gets 2 JJC points for.... I just really don't want to know!

smiler gets a JJC point for some fine bathroom reading...

TBone gets a JJC point for showing us his funny Dick...

elwood gets 3 JJC points for a game of fetch...

Saucy gets 2 JJC points for "It's a cookbook!"

Sprots gets a JJC point for dancing on the bar...

BeBe gets a supermax for being one class behind (Sex Ed was last year's CBT game), and for that bringing a new meaning to dry humping...

Esto gets a supermax for my creepy autobiography...

Krox gets a JJC point for beating the buzzer...
