Jason with the Bernie Sanders campaign called tonight

#1 Post by BackInTex » Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:48 pm

Asked for Emily.

I told him she "was off at college".
He said "O.K. Thank you, have a nice evening."
I said, "You, too."
And he hung up.

Kicking myself at missing that opportunity.

So I texted Emily "Bernie Sander's campaign called. If they call back should I give them your number?"
She replied "No. I like paying for my college."
I replied "You do like paying for your college. What you wouldn't like is after college, and for the rest of your life, paying for everyone else's college. TINSTAAFL. Learn it."
She replies "Exactly"

JFTR....Emily took 17 hours last fall, ran cross country, and worked at the small animal clinic about 20 hours a week. Made the Dean's list.

The father is always the last one to know.

I think Jason will make a fine son-in-law.

He would have to displace her current boyfriend of 2 1/2 years who just yesterday got his acceptance the Veterinary School. This is the young man who the first time I met him asked to seem my gun collection (I have a few very old guns). After looking at them for a little while asked me if he could clean and oil them for me. Then after doing that wanted to go to the gun range with me to shoot them. He also called me from College Station one evening and said "Mr. Willingham, Emily's alternator went out on her truck. Do you mind if I replace it?" And while visiting one weekend he re-hung our front door because it had begun to sag on the hinges and was not closing easily.

So while Jason may make a fine son-in-law for someone, it will not likely be for me, at least with Emily. I doubt he likes guns, or knows how to fix a truck, or hang a door. Or even has plans to become something useful like a veterinarian.

I'm kicking myself for not asking "WELL JASON FROM BERNIE SANDERS CAMPAIGN, what are you wearing?"
