Lyrically Speaking - 2/5/16

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 4:03 am

Wow, are we already at the end of the first week of the 2016 almost-LSWE? That means it's time for the first Friday game of the year, and I'm falling back on the much-loved LSWE staple of short phrases! Yes, today you get very short lyrical snippets of only a few words that, to the best I can determine, are uniquely found in only one song of any popular renown. For maximum pointage, I've included twenty songs in this game, and you'll have the whole weekend to ponder over these if you so desire. Have fun racking your brains!!!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Degenerate the faithful

2. Tawny eyes

3. This serious moonlight

4. Old man's Trojans

5. His bedroom voice

6. Quarter track tape

7. Schoolin' around

8. Eating chocolate cake

9. Three outside children

10. Centrifugal motion

11. Hippie chicks and hypocrites

12. A celibate rope

13. Round 5

14. Madame Onassis

15. Braces and boots

16. Demolition woman

17. Really excellent mother

18. Goody good bullshit

19. East California

20. Cute and horny

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist with a unique short lyrical phrase in it, and include it for three points.

Image Bonus: Pick any of the twenty short lyrical snippets in today's game and show me an image that it would perfectly describe. It might be a good idea to identify which one you are using as well...

Me and BeBe don't have any guesses. Short lyrical phrases don't work in our two best methods of song-guessing (singing lyrics to random melodies and speaking lyrics to different rhythms.)

Rock the Casbah - The Clash

2. Tawny eyes

I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls

3. This serious moonlight

Let's Dance - David Bowie, RIP

4. Old man's Trojans

Keeping the Faith - Billy Joel

5. His bedroom voice

Manic Monday - Bangles

6. Quarter track tape

Nope

7. Schoolin' around

Nope

8. Eating chocolate cake

The Ballad of John and Yoko - John Lennon

9. Three outside children

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone - The Temptations, but I also really like the versions by Was (Not Was) and David Lindley & El Rayo-X

10. Centrifugal motion

This Kiss - Faith Hill

11. Hippie chicks and hypocrites

Walking on the Sun - Smash Mouth

12. A celibate rope

Auto-Erotic Asphyxiation - The BJs

13. Round 5

Authority Song - JCM

14. Madame Onassis

You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart

15. Braces and boots

Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting) - Elton John

16. Demolition woman

Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard

17. Really excellent mother

You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette

18. Goody good bullshit

Money - Pink Floyd

19. East California

Kids in America - Kim Wilde

20. Cute and horny

Half Right - Clem

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist with a unique short lyrical phrase in it, and include it for three points.

the doorway to a thousand churches - In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel

Image Bonus: Pick any of the twenty short lyrical snippets in today's game and show me an image that it would perfectly describe. It might be a good idea to identify which one you are using as well...

Hippie chicks and hypocrites (all in one)

I expected many good ones since so many of the snippets were perfect fodder for the demented mind. But it's the sweet heart of Lizbit that gets the IBB with that really excellent mother squirrel! Awwwww....
