Lyrically Speaking - 2/4/16

#1 Post by Cap'n Patchy » Thu Feb 04, 2016 1:57 am

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Tis time for the LSWE's very first non-Theme Thursday game! And the scurvy dog who dredged me up to post this bag of bones for ye mateys tells me it has a theme anyway! It's really painful for us pirates to say these arrrrrrrrrrrs when we're looking badass clenching our sword in our mouth. Medic! Fetch me the Cap'n Morgan!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme...

1. Gonna wrap my arms around you
Hold you close to me
Oh, babe I wanna taste your lips
I wanna fill your fantasy, yeah

2. It's never what, but who it is you know
So easy to get stuck in all that California snow

3. You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet, why don't they

4. Do you remember the day -(that sunny day)- when you first came my way,
I said no-one could take your place.
And if you get hurt -(if you get hurt)- by the little things I say,
I can put that smile back on your face

5. Used to be so good and so bad
Sex was just something I had
Used to always know what to do
Now you've got me confused

6. Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono

7. Hey, here is the story
Forget about the trouble in life
Don't you know, it's not easy
When you gotta walk upon that line

8. I don't care how much money I gotta spend
Got to get back to baby again
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home

9. L.A. fever made me feel alright
But I must admit it got the best of me
Getting down, so deep I could have drowned
Now, I can't get back the way I used to be

10. So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Watchin' these bimbos walkin like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo

11. Now I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don't ever let me go

12. Whatcha gonna tell your brother?
oh oh oh
whatcha gonna tell your father?
I don't know!
Whatcha gonna tell your mother?
Let me go...

Theme?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something else that fits it!

This is the X Ambassadors. They are finalists in the upcoming Boney Awards. "Upcoming" meaning I haven't finished them yet. I figured since the theme is "ARTISTS" with an X, I should stick with musicians...so if I can't be goofy with this, I can at least get a plug in for the Boneys

Ugh! I was right, you need to get more than two to get the theme. Oh well.

Cap'n Patchy

"One Thing Leads To Another" - The Fixx

4. Do you remember the day -(that sunny day)- when you first came my way,
I said no-one could take your place.
And if you get hurt -(if you get hurt)- by the little things I say,
I can put that smile back on your face

5. Used to be so good and so bad
Sex was just something I had
Used to always know what to do
Now you've got me confused

6. Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono

"Come On Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners

7. Hey, here is the story
Forget about the trouble in life
Don't you know, it's not easy
When you gotta walk upon that line

8. I don't care how much money I gotta spend
Got to get back to baby again
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home

"The Letter - The Box Tops

9. L.A. fever made me feel alright
But I must admit it got the best of me
Getting down, so deep I could have drowned
Now, I can't get back the way I used to be

10. So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Watchin' these bimbos walkin like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo

"Baby Got Back" - Sir Mix-A-Lot

Theme? Drugs?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

"Informer" - Snow

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something else that fits it!

Lizbit and I give up. We don't know any of these songs. We tried humming the lyrics to different tunes. We barked the lyrics to different rhythms. Nope. Nothing.

Theme?
Songs That Dogs Don't Know

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.
We have no answer, because -- in keeping with the theme -- we don't know it.

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something else that fits it!
Can't. Don't know. Here's something else. At least it's pretty.

Dressed For Success - Roxette

Theme? - All of the artists contain an X in their name.... or in pirate terms, X marks the spot!

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me something else that fits it! - Not much to pick from today since only about half the players could pick up on the theme. TBone would've gotten his second bonus win had he gone with the X-Presidents pic as his official submission (There seemed to be a fascination with these guys in the 90's... probably because so many were still alive), but instead, it's a second straight IBB score for Weasel and the X dogs! Yes, I had to go to the image source to actually see the picture, but it was more than worth it!
